Maya Pyskaty is well-known, both in the commercial trucking industry for her extensive career and from her stint on season five of the television show “Ice Road Truckers.” Maya Pyskaty began her career in New York City, mastering overcrowded roads and gaining skill as a commercial truck driver. Her love of engines started when she was just eight years old helping her dad fix old trucks and vehicles.
“As far back as I can remember I wanted to be a commercial truck driver,” said Pyskaty. “While other girls were playing with dolls, I was playing with trucks. I feel really lucky that I have been able to turn my childhood dream into reality.”
Following her appearance on “Ice Road Truckers,” Pyskaty began driving for the family business, Pyskaty Bros. in New Jersey. While she spends most of the year on local hauls, she prefers over-the-road driving in her project truck, a 1997 Peterbilt 379 named “34” after Pyskaty’s lucky number. Restored by Pyskaty herself, the Peterbilt 379 features a custom-made wood floor from Germany, a three-stage frame paint job in Maya’s signature color purple and stainless steel RoadWorks accessories.
